ME & THE MUSIC Although this movie was not all about the music, my interest was heightened by a long-standing love of the Blues (faves Robert Johnson and Blind Lemon Jefferson). My grounding in "Black Snake Moan" was not from the popular version by BLJ (circa June 1926) but from an old recording by British bluesman Mike Cooper (recorded circa 1968). The latter's melody for BSM was based on a tune of Blind Blake (not sure which but "West Coast Blues" fits the bill). The dvd has a decent "making of" video about the background of the music and how the movie was put together.
