John gets Sarah's former beau Charlie Dixon, who is an EMT, to help the stranger Derek Reese. Sarah is put in an awkward position having to explain what she has been up to for the past few years. As Reese recovers it transpires that he is part of a team sent back from the future to assist Sarah and John.
