Augur does some hands-on research to simulate the ID portal vortex scenario. It goes wrong but Liam arrives in time to save him. Augur has found a means of disrupting ID space that Liam corrected with his ion pistol.

T'than redirects his allegiance concerning Taelon colonization of Earth to Da'an. Zo'or and Sandoval try to clean up by repeating the ID portal accident with Hannah and T'than. They trick the pair into portalling out of the Taelon Embassy. Liam arrives in time to dive into the portal. He sees the locator on Hannah that Sandoval is using to track them. He blasts the vortex with his ion pistol and they escape ID space. Hannah dies in Liam's arms. Later it appears she is not dead and in Sandoval's clutches. Sandoval has successfully covered his tracks.
