The story starts off with Sandoval and Zo'or murdering companion protector Tony Arias and Taelon Ram by causing a vortex while they are using the ID portal. Meanwhile Da'an is having a fractal sculpture made of himself by renowned artist Hannah Klein. Liam arrives during the session and before you know it, fractals are flying between Liam and Hannah. She is in fact spying for Sandoval, trying to find any connection between Liam and the Resistance. She can't find any dirt but Sandoval does not believe her.

Arias was set up as the fall-guy and (planted) evidence mounts when Liam goes to El Salvador to search Arias' home. Augur analyzes the data of the portal accident...
